Put up a lattice cover, run some ivy through it, or maybe hang some flower baskets, and you get a more natural shade similar to what you would get being under a tree. And while this looks great, it also has it's drawbacks. For starters you'll get very little protection from the rain and some areas of sun will still get through. But if you like a more natural atmosphere, this could be the solution you are looking for.

Creating patio shade is actually pretty easy. There are plenty of options open to you that will give you the shade you want at a price you can afford. Just select the method that best fits what you'll enjoy most. And don't forget to consider how it looks as well. Obviously some umbrellas and awning will look better than others.
